Seniors Ministry

Eben-Ezer Mennonite Church is a congregation with more than 200 members over the age of 65 years.  A large percentage of these seniors are over 80 years of age; men and women who have come to Canada through immigration from the former Soviet Union,

Poland, Germany, Paraguay and Brazil.  The majority of seniors prefer to worship in the German language.  Ministry to seniors includes an opportunity to hear a German message in the weekly worship service, a mid-week German Bible study, CD and bulletin ministry, and visitation initiated through the Ministers and Deacons group.  In the past few years an annual Spring Tea and the occasional workshop dealing with senior issues have also been offered.  Seniors who enjoy reading will find some enjoyable reading materials in the church library in both the English and German languages.  The recent intentional formation of intergenerational Koinonia groups provides an opportunity for seniors to connect with the larger church family in a smaller and more informal setting.

Personal devotional materials in both languages are also made available through the church.
